This body of work is a response to his ongoing personal transition from being a commercial photographic retoucher to a full-time practicing artist. Concealing and fixing flaws using photographic post-production digital software is standard practice in the commercial retouching industry and is expected to enhance high- end imagery.

The body of work, therefore, allows Stockenstroom to defy this practice, as he purposefully uses the same techniques to disrupt and expose the flaws in his imagery and thus challenging the role of perfection in our interaction and expectation of images. He playfully & purposefully uses everyday mundane objects to loosely construct still-life compositions that are temporary sets where these objects take center stage in front of his camera. Once captured, these images are taken into post-production and manipulated in an amateur- like way to either remain or reveal what has been recorded.
